Neighborhood initiative

One of our three initiatives designed to build relationships while breaking barriers

Our Neighborhood Initiative directly fights the Lack of Representation In Places of Influence barrier by empowering and amplifying the voices of moms, teens, youth, and families within the community. It indirectly fights the Youth Violence, Food & Financial Insecurity, and Education Inequity barriers by providing food, positive role models, education, and more.

As we fight each barrier we ensure there are elements of building relationships. Why?

Since Solidarity started back in 2002, we realized money, one-time events, and general programs aren’t the only things that lead to community transformation. We discovered that building true authentic relationships help build connection, trust, listening ears and open hearts. As we listened to the voices within the community we’ve learned the true needs of the community and what they would like to see within their community.

It is not just solutions or cool ideas we have, but many opportunities for us to empower and amplify the voice of the community through building relationships. Ultimately this has and continues to lead to a community that is an abundance of leaders, thinkers, and mobilizers who have the capacity to transform their own communities and beyond…
